Distinguished Visitors

For over nine decades, Governors, Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers and Union Ministers have taken the Chamber's stage. These photographs record those moments.

From the Annual General Meetings of the 1940s, when the Governor of the United Provinces was the chief guest, to the Silver Jubilee that Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru came to inaugurate, the Chamber has long been a meeting point between the business community and the highest offices of state.

The gallery below runs in chronological order, grouped by era. Select any photograph to see it larger with its full caption.

1942 to 1943

The Pre-Independence Years

Before Independence, the Governor of the United Provinces presided over the Chamber's Annual General Meetings alongside its founding leadership.

1949 to 1958

The Years of a New Nation

After Independence, Premiers and Governors of Uttar Pradesh, and the Union Ministers shaping the young republic, were regular guests. In 1957, Prime Minister Nehru came to open the Silver Jubilee.

1963 to 1978

Decades of Nation Building

Through the 1960s and 1970s, Union Ministers of Industry, Commerce and Defence, and Governors of the state, continued to address the Chamber alongside Dr. Gaur Hari Singhania.

Captions are transcribed from the Chamber's own archive records. Further heritage photographs, including the Distinguished Visitors and past presidents collections, are being catalogued and will join this page.
