The council
Guided by a distinguished council that leads the Chamber and represents its members.
A stronger Chamber,
a stronger Kanpur

Merchants Chamber of Uttar Pradesh was established in 1932 for promoting and protecting the Trade & Industry of Uttar Pradesh by the founder of JK organization Late Lala Kamlapat Singhania. MCUP has a history of positive role in acting as a bridge between the government and the entrepreneurs. The suggestions given by the Chamber are well accepted by the government at all levels.
It is an honour and a privilege to start my journey as the President of the Merchants Chamber of Uttar Pradesh. I accept this responsibility with humility, gratitude and a firm commitment to serve our members, the business community, society and the region.
The Merchants Chamber carries a proud legacy closely connected with the industrial journey of Kanpur. Our endeavor now is to build upon this legacy and create the next chapter of growth: making Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh more competitive, connected, sustainable and prepared for the opportunities of the future.
Our approach will be practical, focused and result-oriented. The Chamber will work towards identifying genuine issues affecting industry and commerce, understanding them through facts, building consensus, engaging with the concerned authorities and pursuing matters to their logical conclusion.
Our key focus areas will include industrial development, MSMEs, infrastructure and connectivity, power, logistics, civic facilities, regulatory challenges and skilled manpower. We will also encourage greater adoption of technology, digitalization, artificial intelligence, innovation and data-driven practices, while fostering stronger links between traditional industries, start-ups, educational institutions and young entrepreneurs.
We remain equally committed to promoting an inclusive and sustainable growth ecosystem, with greater opportunities for women entrepreneurs and the next generation of business leaders. Collaboration between industry, Government, educational institutions, financial institutions and professional organizations will be essential in converting dialogue into meaningful outcomes.
A strong Chamber is built through the active participation of its members. I therefore invite our members, young entrepreneurs and professionals to engage with the Chamber, share their concerns and ideas, and contribute to its initiatives.
Our vision is simple: a stronger Chamber, a stronger business community, a stronger Kanpur and a stronger Uttar Pradesh.
Together, let us honour the legacy we have inherited, address the challenges of today and create new opportunities for tomorrow.
